Fall colors through southern Colorado were past peak in most areas but it was still quite beautiful. I entered Colorado at the four corners in the middle of the night. Quite disappointing though was the fact that you couldn't be in four states at once after dark as the actual point is in a tourist trap on the Navajo Reservation. Too bad, as I think they would stand to make more money from the experience if there was a store that sold trinkets near but not on the actual point. And of course closing it at 5 p.m. makes it inaccessible to anyone not there during business hours. I drove along Hwy 160 and passed over Wolf Pass where they were doing some construction for Avalanche control. The photo taken in the avalanche shelter was while driving. There is no opportunity to stop or pull over in the tunnel. Tunnel photos are fun yet frustrating as I haven't found many that allow for pulling off inside or nearby outside of the tunnels. |
